Happy 2012 to my friends, fans and clients-to-be! It’s been a glorious month off, filled with naps and more naps; re-acquainting myself with long-lost friends; tv-watching (just finished season 2 of Community – please do your ab muscles a favour and start watching now!) and planning my long-overdue honeymoon hopefully, potentially to either Costa Rica or Thailand!
I’ve also been writing down my goals for this year, and one of them is to shoot more portrait sessions. I know the rage in photography right now is “Boudoir” and I totally get the “do-it-now-before-gravity-takes-over” reasoning for this. But for me, I prefer the fashion-inspired meets classic portrait session. The kind of photos that you wouldn’t be embarrassed to show your grandma and hopefully a few that you can use for practical purposes like a LinkedIn profile pic.
I was super honoured to photograph a jaw-droppingly gorgeous girl named Marie-Lou last weekend. For her 30th birthday, her friends purchased a surprise portrait session with me – fast forward a year later to her 31st birthday, and our busy schedules (finally) aligned!
Marie-Lou is by far one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Her laugh is big and infectious and she has a way of making everyone around her feel happy and special. She came prepared with an array of fabulous jewelery, 3 inch leopard print heels and even a Kartell Bourgie lamp! I couldn’t be more excited about the images we captured! Marie-Lou, you are amazing! And thank you so much to friend and stylist Liza Amlani who’s curling iron and Louboutins put the icing on an already elegant cake!
Love, love, love
